Introduction to some useful CGI softwares (for beginners)
There are various types of CGI softwares in the industry. They can be used for 3D modeling, animating, texturing, shading, lighting and rendering. These softwares are- Autodesk Maya, Autodesk 3DS Max, Maxon Cinema 4D, Z Brush, Blender 3D, Houdini etc.
- Among these softwares Maya is good for modeling and animation. So it is used in film and game industry.
- 3DS Max is used for architectural visualization and hard surface modeling.
- Again Cinema 4D is good for 3D motion graphics. It is used by most of the 3D motion graphics artists. It contains some awesome tools named as mograph tools.
- Z Brush is a software used for sculpting. It is used for character creation mainly. It has a lot of amazing tools for sculpting.
- Blender is an open source software which is very good for beginners. It is good for modeling and it has nice sculpting features. Blender is good for animation also. You can use blender for compositing too.
- Houdini is a software often used in film industry. Its a awesome software for simulations. Particle, fluid, smoke simulations can be nicely done in Houdini. Houdini has a nod based interface. It is a bit hard to learn but it can be used for creating very high quality simulations

Maya, 3ds max, Houdini are industry standard softwares. There are also some softwares which can perform some particular jobs such as Substance Painter, Substance Designer, Mari, 3Dcoat are for texturing. Meshroom, Photomodeler, Pix4D are used for photo scanning.
